Sleep Products The 13 Best Sheets for Hot Sleepers, Tested and Reviewed These sheets will keep you cool and cozy throughout all four seasons. By Lacey Muinos Updated on May 01, 2024 Medically reviewed by Leah Ansell, MD Fact checked by Rich Scherr Print Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Creating a serene sleep environment can go a long way in getting quality rest. Some good sleep hygiene habits include removing your electronics, sticking to a consistent sleep-wake pattern, and turning down the thermostat. That’s right—room temperature can affect your sleep. That’s why cooling sheets can greatly impact sleep quality since they wick away heat and moisture and help your body stay cool. Ideally, your body cools off at night to signal that it’s time for sleep, but some people naturally run warmer due to a higher average body temperature. These people are more likely to be hot sleepers, resulting in night sweats, kicking off the covers, and lower quality sleep, says Brandon Peters, MD, a board-certified sleep medicine physician in Seattle. To determine the best sheets for hot sleepers, we tested 52 of the most popular satin, linen, cotton, and hemp sheets. We tested the sheets for quality, texture, breathability, durability, and value at home over six weeks and in the Verywell Health lab. Then, we narrowed down our list to 13 sheet sets based on how they feel, look, and perform. Which Fabric is the Coolest for Hot Sleepers? Based on expert guidance, we narrowed the best materials for hot sleepers to cotton, linen, satin, and silk. Dr. Peters says these materials work well because they allow heat to dissipate and feel airy and breathable. Certified sleep specialist Rachel Mitchell recommends natural, organic, and breathable materials, such as bamboo, cotton, and silk, to help with moisture regulation. That being said, keep in mind that cotton isn’t as moisture-wicking as linen. Also, because linen sheets are more breathable, they may be the better choice for those with night sweats, but they can also feel heavier than other materials. Picking the Right Threat Counts for Sheets for Hot Sleepers Dr. Mitchell usually recommends a 200-400 thread count for hot sleepers. The range may shift, though, based on the brands and materials. Thread count refers to the number of horizontal and vertical threads per square inch. Generally, the higher the thread count, the more comfortable and softer the sheet is, and the more likely it will stand the test of time. Picking the Right Threat Counts for Sheets for Hot Sleepers Our Picks We Also Tested How We Tested the Sheets for Hot Sleepers What to Look For in Sheets for Hot Sleepers Our Experts FAQ Why Trust Verywell Health Best Overall Parachute Brushed Cotton Sheet Set Parachute View On Parachute $194 Pros Stains come out easily Material gets softer over time Don’t show wear quickly Cons Wrinkle quickly out of the dryer Can make rustling sounds when you move Key Specs: Material: Cotton | Available Sizes: Full, queen, king, California king | Thread Count: Not listed Why We Recommend it Parachute’s Brushed Cotton Sheet Set earned our best overall pick as the best sheets for hot sleepers due to its softness, quality, and breathability. One of our editors, who sleeps with a fan in a 67-degree bedroom, found the sheets struck the perfect balance of feeling cool without being too chilly, making them great sheets for hot sleepers. Made of 100% cotton, they have a buttery soft finish like a cozy, lived-in cotton button-down shirt—you’ll want to envelop yourself in them. We also noted an almost "crunchy" feel to them, which sounds negative, but it's not. It added a pleasant, crisp feeling to the plush sheets. One thing that can't be argued about is the sheets' durability. After consistent washing, we didn't see any loose threads, color fading, or damage. We didn't need to pretreat any stains (including a blood stain), as the fabric easily released them with a normal wash cycle. Not only did they look good, but they looked and felt brand new after six weeks of testing. We emphatically loved these sheets because they improved over time and proved a worthy investment. Keep in Mind We did find them to be slightly noisy (we attribute it to the "crunch" mentioned above), but the rustling sounds were tolerable. They also wrinkle easily, so you may need to steam them for a neater look in the home. Health / Dera Burreson Health / Dera Burreson Best Overall-Runner Up Everly Hemp Sheet Set Amazon View On Amazon $140 Pros Rich color High breathability Durable Cons Oil stains are hard to remove Key Specs: Material: Hemp | Available Sizes: Queen, full, king | Thread Count: 200 Why We Recommend It Hemp sheets tend to be a little expensive, but The Everly Hemp Sheet Set defies that reputation without compromising softness, durability, breathability, or a luxe look. This sheet set for hot sleepers is our best overall runner-up because our lab tests proved that they’d give hot sleepers a comfortable, sweat-free night. These sheets reminded us of summer linen as they were lightweight and translucent. Out of the box, the first thing we did was wash the sheets before use as the directions instructed (machine washed on cold in a gentle cycle). After the first wash, we saw that the quality hadn’t been compromised, and the color was just as elegant, bright, and vibrant as before. The sheets gave a little slack but didn’t roll or bunch up. The sheets proved to be very breathable. Even after two more washes, they still felt plush and supple with no color fading, snags, or imperfections. These sheets can be tumble-dried, and you can also iron them on a low setting if you want them to look pristine. Keep in Mind While removing coffee and foundation stains was easy, oil stains did not come out. The oil stain lingered on the topside and underside of the sheet. It wasn’t as bad on the pillowcase. Verywell Health / Rachel Marek Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Rachel Marek Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Best for Night Sweats Better Homes & Gardens Hygro Cotton Sheet Set Walmart View On Walmart $46 Pros Deep pockets keep them in place Don’t fade quickly Reasonably priced Cons Only come in three sizes May not be as cooling as other options Key Specs: Material: Cotton | Available Sizes: Full, queen, king | Thread Count: 400 Why We Recommend It The Better Homes and Gardens 400 Thread Count Hygro Cotton Bed Sheet Set is the best sheet set for hot sleepers who experience night sweats. The specialty cotton they're made with is supposed to regulate body temperatures in all seasons, and we're happy to say they did just that during testing and more. The cotton was very breathable and helped us maintain a neutral, steady, comfortable temperature throughout the night. They stopped our night sweats in their tracks, which are all features hot sleepers should look for in a good cooling sheet set. These sheets are made with elastic edges, so they fit snugly. Moreover, they have deep pockets, so they’re suitable for pillow-top mattresses or beds with mattress pads on them. They fit perfectly around our 14-inch mattress and were deep enough to fit perfectly without ever coming undone. The color didn't fade in the wash, they weren't easily stained, and they have a price point that matches their value perfectly. Keep in Mind They didn’t make a significant difference in the overall coolness of the sleep environment. Best Moisture-Wicking West Elm Linen Sheet Set West Elm View On West Elm $182 Pros Linen material wicks moisture quickly Fits tightly and remains firmly in place Doesn’t shrink when dried Cons Not as breathable as other options Shows wrinkles easily Key Specs Material: Linen | Available Sizes: Full, queen, king, California king | Thread Count: Not listed Why We Recommend It The best cooling sheets have moisture-wicking properties to prevent night sweats, and the West Elm European Flax Linen Sheets take the cake. When tested for how well they wick away moisture by placing a drop of water directly on the sheets, moisture was dispersed evenly and quickly, showing us that they're the best moisture-wicking sheets for hot sleepers. Once secured, the ends of the sheets didn't budge or ride up when we moved around in the bed. We were also impressed by their durability when we used them. They didn't shrink or retain stains after washing and drying, and they aren’t likely to pill over time. We loved that the sheets didn't stain easily, except for a little bit of makeup. Keep in Mind They fit tightly over your mattress, so they can be a struggle to get on. They also wrinkled easily, which is to be expected with linen fabrics, so keep in mind you’ll have to move quickly once they come out of the dryer. We found them less breathable than other options. Softest Cozy Earth Linen Sheet Set Cozy Earth View On Cozy Earth $272 View On Macy's $339 Pros Wide variety of sizes Feel high quality and durable Don’t stain easily Cons Pricey Stiffen after being washed Key Specs: Material: Bamboo, Linen | Available Sizes: Twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, California king, split king | Thread Count: Not listed Why We Recommend It A good sleep environment should be cozy, and the Cozy Earth Linen Sheet Set lives up to its name when it comes to this quality, which is why they're our pick for the softest cooling sheets for hot sleepers. Made of 70% bamboo, they depart from the typical 100% cotton or linen sheets we’re used to seeing for hot sleepers. Bamboo has anti-inflammatory qualities for the skin. Sleeping on bamboo sheets thus can be more soothing for the skin than traditional cotton sheets. During testing, we especially enjoyed the pillowcases that come with the set. They felt divine and made it easier to fall asleep. After falling asleep, they helped prevent frequent waking, something that's very common with hot sleepers. They held up well in the wash and retained no stains. We noticed that we never felt completely cool but never hot enough to wake up—making them great transition sheets. We suggest using them during the transition seasons when it's not blistering cold or hot nightly. A fun perk: the fitted sheets have labeled sides. While small, we obsessed over this detail because it made making the bed easier and faster. Keep in Mind The sheets were stiffer and not as soft after being washed. We also thought that this set (which contains a fitted sheet and a flat sheet) was priced on the higher side even if it is worth it. Best Lightweight Casaluna Washed Hemp Sheet Set Target View On Target $139 Pros Gets softer every wash Fitted sheets have elastic bands Affordable Cons Oil stains are hard to remove Key Specs: Material: Hemp | Available Sizes: Twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, California king | Thread Count: 100 Why We Recommend It The Casaluna Sheet Set is our pick for hot sleepers' lightweight sheets. These sheets are so lightweight that we mistook them for softer linen instead of hemp during testing and had to recheck the tag. Studies have proven that the higher the ratio of hemp in a fabric, the more breathable and lightweight it is. Given that the Casaluna Sheet Set is made of 100% hemp, it makes sense that they’re very airy and breathable. Beyond the lightweight nature, these sheets were some of the softest we tried. While some sheets become rougher with continued use and washing, these sheets maintained their quality and were more plush and comfortable after every wash cycle. The elastic bands on the fitted sheet kept it firmly in place even with frequent tossing and turning. The set has two pillowcases, a flat and fitted sheets. It’s also available in five different colors. Keep in Mind We could still see remnants of the oil stain when the sheets were held up to the light. The lighting was dim in the lab, so we believe the stains would be more apparent under brighter or harsher lighting. Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Rachel Marek Verywell Health / Rachel Marek Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Best Sateen Beautyrest Cotton Wrinkle-Resistant Sateen Sheet Set Wayfair View On Amazon $108 View On Wayfair $61 View On Macy's $67 Pros Feel lightweight and soft Fitted sheet is deep and doesn’t roll up Good for winter months Cons Some loose threads Limited color palette Key Specs: Material: Cotton | Available Sizes: Full, queen, king, California king | Thread Count: 400 Why We Recommend It The Beautyrest Cotton Wrinkle-Resistant Sateen Sheet Set is a sateen sheet set that's smoother and less crisp than regular cotton sheets. You would think our pick for the best sateen sheets for hot sleepers was made of satin or polyester, but they’re actually cotton. “Sateen” refers to the type of weave, not the material. The different weave pattern yields a glossy surface that’s less prone to wrinkles and maintains the softness of cotton. We experienced this firsthand during testing, as these sheets had a lush and cozy softness that excited us to fall asleep. Some lightweight sheets can feel a little drafty at night. Despite being so lightweight, they kept us comfortably warm, making them a good option for winter or cooler months. After encountering muddy paw prints, we threw them in the washer and were pleased to see all the stains were gone without any pretreatment solution. They also came out feeling softer. The overall quality was pretty impressive for the affordable price point. Keep in Mind We did notice some loose threads after a few washes. Best Heavy Tuft & Needle Hemp Sheet Set Tuft & Needle View On Tuft & Needle View On Target $240 Pros Very durable Doesn't stain 100-night sleep trial Cons Expensive Key Specs: Material: Hemp | Available Sizes: Twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, California king | Thread Count: 100 Why We Recommend It If you need a heavier sheet set for hot sleepers that’s still breathable and soft, the Tuft & Needle Hemp Sheet Set is a great option. While they looked and felt like silkier linen during testing, there was a thickness to the fabric that we loved. They were cool to the touch and added a cozy softness that made it easy to sleep peacefully without overheating (a necessity for hot sleepers). When fitted on the mattress properly, the fitted sheet was a little looser, but the edges stayed securely in place. If Tuft & Needle’s hemp sheets weren’t our pick for the best heavy sheet set, they'd be our pick for the most durable. They held up well after washing with a mild detergent and cool water. Makeup, coffee, and oil stains vanished; the color stayed vibrant, and they didn't unravel in any way. We loved that the fabric felt softer than before. They’re available in four colors: white, a beautiful golden yellow, navy, and a lighter blue. If these sheets don’t work out for you, they come with a 100-night sleep trial and free shipping and returns. That being said, we’re confident you won’t need to utilize those, as the set is great for hot sleepers who need heavier sheets at night to get a perfect night’s rest. Keep in Mind Our only complaint was that while we did enjoy these sheets, we don’t think the value matches the price tag. They’re fairly expensive and we do think there are other sheets available that offer comparable quality at a more affordable price. Verywell Health / Rachel Marek Verywell Health / Rachel Marek Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Best Cotton The Citizenry Organic Cotton Sheet Set The Citizenry View On The-citizenry.com View On The Container Store $269 Pros Made of organic cotton Certified to be free of toxins Buttery soft Cons Limited sizing and color options Feel slightly delicate Key Specs: Material: | Available Sizes: Full, queen, king | Thread Count: 400 Why We Recommend It Buttery soft. That’s how the Citizenry Organic Resort Cotton Sheet Set felt straight out of the package and after weeks of testing. They’re our pick for the best cotton sheets for hot sleepers because they're more lightweight than other options, which is a big win for hot sleepers or anyone trying to stay cool during those warm summer nights. The top sheet is so breathable and airy that you won't be kicking it off to stay cool at night. These sheets were some of the lightest we tested and perfect for hot summer nights (or nights where you run hot). They were so delicate to the touch we were afraid they wouldn't be durable. We had nothing to fear as they maintained their quality through toddler accidents, multiple wash cycles, and wear and tear from our furry friends. The stripes on our set didn't fade over time, either. We loved The Ciritzenry Organic Resort Cotton Sheet Set. It's a great sheet set where you get more value than the price point suggests. Keep in Mind They don't come in many color options, and they feel slightly too delicate for our liking. While they proved to be durable, they don't feel like they are. Best Linen Parachute Linen Sheet Set Parachute View On Parachute $238 Pros Strong moisture-wicking performance Looks and feels higher quality than average sheets Holds up well to stains Cons Not super breathable Questionable durability Key Specs: Material: Flax | Available Sizes: Twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, California king | Thread Count: Not listed Why We Recommend It If you can’t decide between cotton and linen, Parachute offers both—and we tested them both to see how they compare. While the cotton set is our top pick overall, the Parachute Linen Sheet Set is our top pick for the best linen cooling sheets for hot sleepers because it offers much. After testing 52 sheets, we could tell just by looking at them that they would be soft and high-quality, and we were right. The linen texture on the beige set we tested was very visible, had a relaxed yet luxe look, and didn't fade after being washed. They also remained plush to the touch (especially the pillowcases) post-wash. Makeup and coffee stains were removed, and the small remnants of the oil stain were hardly visible. The sheets displayed high moisture-wicking properties, which is crucial for a dry, comfortable night. Overall, the Parachute Linen Sheet Set looks great, feels better, and is a great option for hot sleepers who want a high-quality linen sheet set. Keep in Mind These sheets didn't perform well on the abrasion test (rubbing the sheets with sandpaper), so they may be more susceptible to wear and tear. We also weren't impressed by the airflow and breathability which is pretty important for hot sleepers. Best Silk Mulberry Park Silks Silk Sheet Set Amazon View On Amazon $617 View On Mulberryparksilks.com Pros May be beneficial for skin and hair Feel cool to the touch Deep pockets fit tall mattresses Cons Stain easily Key Specs: Material: Silk | Available Sizes: Full, queen, king, California king | Thread Count: Not listed Why We Recommend It Silk sheets are a luxury product that comes at a luxury price point. For someone who loves silk garments and bedding, the Mulberry Park Silks 22 Momme Silk Sheet Set is the best silk sheet for hot sleepers. Silk tends to be good for skin and hair, as hair follicles can snag on rougher fabrics (which is why people love silk pillowcases). Silk sheets are extremely beneficial if you're trying to retain moisture in your skin and hair length or even aid in hair frizziness. They were undeniably cool, especially at night—and they warmed up quickly with the body, allowing for a comfortable temperature and uninterrupted rest. We know this set is a little pricier, but the heavyweight fabric and durability make these sheets worth the higher price point. The threading felt and proved to be high quality. These sheets maintained their softness after a few wash cycles, and the fabric didn't fray at the edges. While not necessary, we loved that these sheets made making the bed more efficient. The bottom of the fitted sheet was labeled, and the deep pockets made it easy to put them on without wrestling with the corners. Depending on the size needed, they come in nine different color options and different pocket depths (15 to 17 inches). Keep in Mind The sheets were a little slippery at times and we struggled to get makeup and coffee stains out of these sheets, so if you drink coffee in bed or sleep in your makeup, proceed with caution. Best Satin Decolure Satin Sheet Set Amazon View On Amazon $30 View On Sears.com Inexpensive Can support healthy skin and hair Feels smooth and slippery Conduct static electricity Color fades in the wash Polyester can trap heat Key Specs: Material: Polyester | Available Sizes: Twin, full, queen, king | Thread Count: Not listed Why We Recommend It Our pick for the best satin cooling sheets for hot sleepers is the Decolure Satin Sheet Set. There’s something luxurious about satin materials despite the affordable price tag. Satin is highly recommended for healthy skin and hair and feels smooth and slippery against the skin, giving the illusion of a cooler environment. Although polyester tends to trap heat, these polyester satin sheets didn’t feel hot to the touch during testing. We were pleased with the quality of these Decolure bed sheets, especially considering their affordability. They fit comfortably over a standard-sized mattress, and the elastic edges pulled the sheet taut so they didn’t come undone in the night, a common pain point when looking for sheets with deep pockets. We washed the sheets several times and were pleased to see just how durable the sheets were. Around 70% of the stains disappeared, and the sheets outperformed many others during the abrasion test. The sheen on the fabric was the only part damaged after 25 strokes with steel wool. Soft, lightweight, and built to last, these satin sheets are a great option for hot sleepers who don't want to compromise cool nights for luxe bedding. Keep in Mind We did notice some slight fading in the color after a few washes. Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Best Hemp Delilah Home Hemp Sheet Set Macy's View On Delilahhome.com View On Etsy $70 Key Specs: Material: Hemp | Available Sizes: Queen | Thread Count: 400 Why We Recommend It Delilah Home Hemp Queen Sheet Set is our pick for the best hemp sheets for hot sleepers because of its exceptional quality, breathability, and weight. Hemp sheets are a more sustainable fabric choice because they're biodegradable, need less water during manufacturing, and use peroxide instead of chlorine bleach. It is also resilient against disease and pests. While a little rougher than cotton, hemp sheets are still a very soft and breathable option, and this sheet set shows it. We loved how airy and cool these sheets were during testing. The moisture control was impressive—during the droplet test, the water drop disappeared immediately into the fabric and was fully absorbed within seven seconds. The moisture didn’t travel either, so you won’t wake up wading in a pool of sweat at night. Instead, you’ll be cool and snug nestled up against the thicker and heavier sheet. We didn’t see any loose threads, snags, or flaws in the fabric, and there were no color changes after washing them. Keep in Mind While other hemp sheets we tested also had a looser fit, these sheets looked a little sloppier. The set is also only available for queen mattresses and they were more expensive than what we felt comfortable spending (even if they were the best overall). Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Henry Wortock Verywell Health / Rachel Marek Verywell Health / Rachel Marek Verywell Health / Henry Wortock We Also Tested Brooklinen Linen Core Sheet Set: One of our editors has used Brooklinen sheets for six years so that we can attest to their long-lasting nature. They also fared well in our tests. At first, they felt a bit rough, but they softened with each subsequent wash. We also noticed some wrinkling, but it smoothed out eventually.Bokser Home 100% French Linen Sheet Set at Bokser Home: These sheets reminded us of a summer linen top: worn in but super soft and breezy. We found them luxurious, noticeably cooling, and worth the price. Our only gripe was some pilling and slight fading, which wasn’t a deal breaker but worth mentioning.Comfort Classics Peached Percale 100% Cotton Sheet Set at Walmart: Most of the tested sheets went on easily, but we struggled a bit with these. Once they were on, we found the material felt scratchy and more warm than cool. They soften over time and are very durable, but may not be ideal for hot sleepers.Lands' End Garment Washed Cotton Hemp Blend Bed Sheet Set: While this option was breathable and the cotton blend made these hemp sheets a little softer than the other hemp options, we weren’t very impressed overall. They stained easily and were rather delicate. Pets or normal wear and tear would damage these sheets very easily. How We Tested the Sheets for Hot Sleepers There’s no better way to test a set of sheets than to plop them on your own bed and sleep in them for six weeks, so that's what we did during our at-home test. We tested three main types of sheets: cotton, linen, and silk or satin. In The Verywell Testing Lab, we evaluated the sheets for quality, shrinkage, breathability, fit, and durability. We performed various tests to see how they held up to stains, washing, and drying and sought expert advice throughout the testing process. They weighed in with what qualities hot sleepers should (and shouldn't) consider when looking at sheets. We made sure to keep that in mind when looking at the following metrics: Quality: Before washing and drying them, we thoroughly inspected new sheets for flaws and made note of any loose threads, snags, or imperfections.Shrinkage: We measured the sheets before and after a wash cycle to see if they shrunk or remained the same size. Once the sheets were washed, we compared them to unwashed pillowcases from the same set to note any changes in texture.Breathability: We dropped one drop of water on each sheet and timed how quickly and evenly it dispersed to assess the moisture-wicking and absorbing properties. Durability: Using abrasive materials (like steel wool), we did our best to mimic long-term real-world wear and tear. We rubbed the wool against the fabric up to 50 times checking for any rips, holes, or pilling. We washed them weekly, keeping track of any loosening threads, discoloration, pilling, color transferring, or fading.Fit: We made the bed, paying close attention to whether the fitted sheet came undone or if it stayed securely in place. After we laid, tossed, and turned in the sheets to see how they felt and if the corners lifted. We wrote down any extra features such as labeled sides or elastic bands.Value: At the end of testing, we compared our experience with the sheets with the price point assessing whether they were worth the total value. What to Look For in Sheets for Hot Sleepers Durability: Good-quality sheets are soft and durable; some even get softer as you continue to use and wash them. Sheets from luxury bedding companies offer long-lasting quality thanks to premium fabrics and weave. Convenience is also important—look for sheets that are easy to wash and care for. Breathability: When you run hot at night, heat can easily get trapped in the sheets, making it harder to sleep comfortably. Having breathable sheets with great moisture-wicking qualities will enable a cooler, dryer, more comfortable sleep. Bamboo, cotton, and silk are known to be more breathable options. Comfort: To ensure you stay comfortable throughout the night, avoid sheets that may slide around while you sleep. Check the size of your bed and mattress (twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, or California king) and choose bedding that fits properly. Some fitted sheets feature deep pockets that fit the depth of larger mattresses (as well as adjustable beds) up to 17 inches. Our Experts Michael Breus, PhD, a clinical psychologist and diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine in Hermosa Beach, California Anna Chacon, MD, board-certified dermatologist and writer at MyPsoriasisTeam Rachel Mitchell, certified sleep specialist and founder of My Sweet Sleeper Brandon Peters, MD, a board-certified sleep medicine physician in Seattle Frequently Asked Questions Who should buy cooling sheets? Michael Breus, PhD, a clinical psychologist and diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine in Hermosa Beach, California, says cooling sheets are an obvious choice for hot sleepers and people who have health conditions that may cause hot flashes (like menopause). They may be a good choice for you if you have trouble falling asleep or wake up in the middle of the night due to overheating. Those who turn to interventions like using an oscillating fan or cracking a window at night could benefit from cooling sheets, Dr. Peters says. Can cooling sheets help with skin conditions? Those with sensitive skin may need to choose their sheets carefully. If you have sensitive skin, opt for lightweight sheets made of hypoallergenic fabrics. Silk, cotton, and bamboo would all be good choices. Linen is also breathable and airy, so sensitive skin won’t feel suffocated. Those with eczema should also consider sheets that won’t aggravate or irritate their delicate skin—cotton and silk would be good choices. Cotton is an eczema-friendly fabric, per the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). How can cooling sheets help with sleep? Heat exposure from your bedding can increase wakefulness and decrease slow-wave sleep and rapid eye movement sleep, according to research published in the Journal of Physiological Anthropology. Dr. Breus says that bedding materials that trap heat negatively interfere with your sleep cycle. He adds that using cooling sheets is an easy way to ward off heat retention and increase breathability. Dr. Peters says to consult your doctor if nighttime overheating is not resolved by using cooling sheets and other sleep hygiene practices, since there may be an underlying cause that needs to be addressed.
