Geralyn Dexter, PhD, LMHC, began working in the mental health field in 2011. As a therapist, she served in various mental health settings, including intensive outpatient, community-based, private practice, telehealth, and mental health startups. Based in Delray Beach, Florida, her research interests include suicidal ideation and behavior, non-suicidal self-injury, anxiety and mood disorders, barriers to assessment and treatment, help-seeking behaviors, and therapeutic relationships. In addition to Verywell Health, her writing work has been featured in GoodRx, Mental Health America, HealthyPlace, and GenTwenty.
Geralyn received her PhD in Psychology in 2023. A former writer for Verywell Health, she now serves on the Medical Expert Board.
