Isaac O. Opole, MD, PhD, FACP, is a board-certified internist practicing general and geriatric medicine at the Kansas University Medical Center for over 15 years, and is the Ruth Bohan Teaching Professor of Medicine and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. He is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians and has served as the Governor of the Kansas Chapter for the last 4 years. He is currently serving as President of the ACP for the 2024-2025 term.
In addition to clinical and administrative responsibilities, Dr. Opole is engaged in teaching Internal Medicine and mentoring of medical students as the Director of the Cates Academic Society and serves at a national level as a director of the Government Employees' Health Association and Civil Surgeon of the United States.
Dr. Opole received his medical degree from the University of Nairobi (1992), and his doctorate in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine in 2002. After a brief post-doctoral training he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Kansas University Medical Center in 2002, obtaining his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine and was admitted to a fellowship of the American College of Physicians in 2009.
