Isabel Casimiro, MD, PhD, is an endocrinologist at the Queen's University Medical Group in Hawaii. Her training as a physician-scientist focused on understanding the molecular biology of adipose tissue dysfunction in the setting of type 2 diabetes and obesity. Her research findings have been published in several scientific and medical journals, including Cell Metabolism and the Journal of the Endocrine Society. She has been involved in academic leadership throughout her training, serving on graduate and medical school program committees as well as in efforts toward recruiting and retaining underrepresented minorities in medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine. Her endocrinology subspecialty interests include diabetes, lipid disorders, obesity, and transgender medicine.
Dr. Casimiro obtained her Bachelor's degree from California State University-Chico and her Master's degree from San Francisco State University. She received a PhD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and her MD from the University of Washington. She completed an internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at the University of Chicago. She is an Endocrinologist at the Queens University Medical Group in Hawaii.
