Katlein França, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery and Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.She has published more than 150 scientific papers, over 100 peer-reviewed. She is the editor and author of seven dermatology textbooks: Dermatology and Doctor-Patient Relationship (Brazil 2012), Geriatric Psychodermatology: Psychocutaneous Disorders in the Elderly (USA 2015), Optimal Patient Management of Alopecia (United Kingdom, 2016), Stress and Skin Disorders (USA 2016), Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling Disorder): Clinical Characteristics, Psychological Interventions, and Emotional Effects (USA 2017), Hair Transplants and Hair Implants (United Kingdom 2017) and Advances in Integrative Dermatology (United Kingdom 2019).She is frequently invited as speaker and chair at national and international conferences and has given talks in 17 countries. Dr. França is past President of the Association for Psychoneurocutaneous Medicine of North America (2016-2017) and currently serves as President of the World Health Academy of Integrative Dermatology.
Dr. França did a fellowship in General Dermatology in UM’s Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery (2011), an observership in Cosmetic Medicine in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology & Facial Plastic Surgery (2012), a research fellowship in Dermatologic Surgery & Laser in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery (2013), a PhD in Social Psychology at the University Argentina John F. Kennedy (2016) and a post-doctorate in International Healthcare and Ethics at UM’s Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy (2018).
