Shadi Hamdeh, MD,  is currently an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Motility at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He practices general gastroenterology with a focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease, including Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Dr. Hamdeh performs a wide range of endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy colonoscopy, both diagnostic and therapeutic.

He's involved in research projects with the main focus on inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Hamdeh is frequently published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, including The American Journal of Gastroenterology, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He also participates in U.S. top national conferences. In 2019, Dr. Hamdeh was awarded the Young Investigator Award from the American College of Gastroenterology.

Education

Dr. Hamdeh graduated from Damascus University, Damascus, Syria, with an MD degree. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, besides completing advanced Inflammatory Bowel Disease fellowship at Northwestern University, Chicago.
