Stuart Hershman, MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spinal deformity and complex spinal reconstruction at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He has a particular interest in spinal realignment surgery and revision spinal surgery, as well as the surgical management of cervical myelopathy, and the osteoporotic spine.
Dr. Hershman is an active member of several international research organizations including the Scoliosis Research Society, the Cervical Spine Research Society, the Lumbar Spine Research Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has co-authored multiple book chapters and served as the editor of a textbook on compression fractures of the spine. He serves on committees in professional organizations within the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Scoliosis Research Society, and his research has been presented both nationally and internationally. He has authored over 40 peer reviewed publications and is currently involved in multiple ongoing research studies.
Dr. Hershman earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine. He then went on to complete a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. Dr. Hershman continued his sub-specialization in spine by completing a fellowship in complex spine and spinal deformity surgery at Washington University in St. Louis.
